Re-birth of estate to kill current crime
A notorios ‘sink’ estate is to get a £1billion makeover in the biggest development in London since the Olympic park. The Ferier estate in Kidbrooke is said to be demolished and been replaced by 400 new homes which has been given planning permission by Greenwich council. But is a re-birth really going to stop the crime that goes on there?
I mean last year members of a gang who styled themselves the Ferrier Boyz stabbed a young man who confronted them after they robbed his 14-year-old brother. Unemployment among its residents has been as high as 75 per cent. The estate is plagued by crime and violence. So how will new housing change the residents of this estate, just because it has a new look, doesn’t mean what’s ont the inside will change.
